Celebrating America’s SBDC Day 2023
By Sarah Mailloux, Associate State Director, Delaware SBDC
Join the Delaware Small Business Development Center in Celebrating National SBDC Day!
March 15th, 2023 marks the annual National SBDC Day, a collective, nationwide proclamation of the success and impact America’s Small Business Development Centers (SBDCs) have across the nation in economic development and the small business community.
With nearly 1,000 locations across the country, SBDCs provide local businesses and entrepreneurs with the resources needed to succeed in every US state and territory. Nationwide SBDCs helped generate 85,094 jobs, $10.1 billion in sales growth, $7.7 billion in capital investments, and helped start 14,487 new businesses – proving that SBDCs are leaders in job creation and economic growth.
Celebrating its 40th anniversary, the Delaware Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has made a significant impact in helping businesses start, grow, and succeed by providing training programs and NO COST one-one-one professional business consulting. Funded by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and the State of Delaware, the SBDC’s work has resulted in more than 1,600 new business starts (since inception), more than 5,000 jobs, and over $500 million in capital (since 2010). Over 21,000 businesses have received Delaware SBDC consulting services.
The Delaware SBDC is accredited as a technology-designated program to support entrepreneurs building tech-based companies. The Delaware SBDC has also received national recognition for its groundbreaking work in cybersecurity. The Department of Homeland Security named the Delaware SBDC’s Small Business Cybersecurity program as a national best practice. Delaware SBDC is proud to also have one of SBA’s Community Navigator programs, which is a program targeting outreach for small businesses in underserved communities.
Today, the Delaware SBDC’s “small but mighty” team continues to provide top-rated support in Business Start-Up/Expansion; Business Finance/Loan Packaging; Market/Industry Research; eCommerce/Social Media; Technology Commercialization and Funding; Rural Business Development; Veterans Training; and Cybersecurity.
Small businesses, partners, and advocates are invited to help spread the word about SBDC Day using the hashtag #SBDCDay and our anniversary hashtag #DESBDCcelebrates40. On March 15th, participants are encouraged to share how their local SBDC has changed their life and community. SBDCs nationwide will collectively share, in real-time, the success stories and notable impacts SBDCs collectively have on the small business community at large. This special day will also be celebrated through public relations initiatives, campaigns, and online and in-person events. Learn more at www.AmericasSBDC.org/SBDCDay.
