Introspection Counseling Center

Expanding Access to Mental Health Care Across State Lines

Introspection Counseling Center was built on the belief that everyone deserves access to quality, culturally informed mental health support. Through individual counseling, group therapy, medication management, and specialized services for anxiety, depression, trauma, and other life stressors, the practice has created a welcoming environment where clients can focus on healing and personal growth.

When Dr. Dierdra Oretade-Branch founded Introspection Counseling Center in September 2021, her mission was clear: help individuals navigate life’s challenges by providing accessible, compassionate mental health care. What began as a response to the growing demand for mental health services during the COVID-19 pandemic has evolved into a thriving multi-state counseling practice serving adults across Delaware, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, and Maryland.

Meeting a Growing Need

The demand for mental health services has continued to increase in recent years, creating both an opportunity and a challenge for the practice. As the Introspection Counseling Center expanded its reach, Dr. Oretade-Branch remained committed to maintaining high-quality care while growing the organization in a sustainable manner.

That dedication to both service and growth recently earned national recognition. During National Small Business Week in May, Dr. Oretade-Branch was named the 2026 U.S. Small Business Administration Women-Owned Small Business of the Year (see right) by the SBA Delaware District Office, recognizing the impact Introspection Counseling Center has made across Delaware’s economic ecosystem and in addressing mental health needs throughout the region.

Growing with Delaware SBDC Support

Throughout the company’s growth journey, the Delaware Small Business Development Center (SBDC) has served as a trusted resource and partner. Working with advisor Apryl King, Dr. Oretade-Branch and her team received guidance and support as the practice expanded operations and explored new growth opportunities. “The SBDC has been a great asset in providing support in finding grant and other funding resources, networking opportunities, and opportunities to increase business marketing awareness,” she shared.

The practice also secured a Delaware EDGE Grant, which helped support the expansion of services, including the addition of in-person therapy and psychiatric medication management at its Wilmington location. “The Delaware SBDC played a critical role in my success by providing strategic guidance and hands-on support throughout the EDGE Grant application and award nomination process, shared Oretade-Branch. “Their commitment to small business development creates real opportunities for growth, visibility, and long-term sustainability.” Growth at a sustainable pace has allowed Introspection Counseling Center to serve more individuals while ensuring care is high-quality and accessible for every patient.

Looking Ahead

Today, Introspection Counseling Center continues to grow its team and expand access to care while remaining focused on its core mission: helping individuals alleviate mental and emotional distress through a deeper understanding of their unique life experiences. With a growing presence across multiple states and a commitment to meeting the evolving needs of the communities it serves, the practice is helping shape a healthier future for those seeking support.

The Delaware SBDC is proud to celebrate Introspection Counseling Center and Dr. Dierdra Oretade-Branch for their continued impact, leadership, and dedication to improving mental health outcomes throughout the region, and for recognition as Delaware’s Women-Owned Business of the Year!
