New Castle County Chamber of Commerce announces Small Business Awards winners

WILMINGTON – The New Castle Chamber of Commerce announced Wednesday, Dec. 2, the winners of the 2020 Small Business Awards.
  • Small Business Icon Winner: Janssen’s Market
    Finalists: Mrs. Robino’s Restaurant and Paul Campanella’s Auto & Tire Service
  • Business of the Year – Small Business Winner: Info Solutions
    Finalists: Brandywine Technology and Union Press
  • Business of the Year – Mid-Market Winner: Marlette Funding
    Finalists: Cover & Rossiter and Joseph Frederick & Sons
  • Small Business Advocate Winner: Denita Henderson, SBDC Delaware
    Finalists: Dr. Dan Young (Goldey-Beacom College) and Mark Olazagasti (Info Solutions)
  • Community Service Award Winner: Hoffman Exterminating
    Finalists: Cornerstone Health Partners and Blue Diamond Dental
  • Rising Star in Business Winner: Matt Laird, Assurance Media
    Finalists: Matt Sapanaro (A.I. Whoo) and Ireida Grabill (Language Liaisons)
Denita is responsible for the operations of the Northern and Central Delaware offices and the Lead Center. Denita has been with DSBDC since 2016. Denita brings over 20 years of experience as a business and economic development executive to the SBDC. She previously worked as a business development consultant lending her expertise in strategic planning and management to corporations, government agencies, small businesses and nonprofits. Most recently, Denita served the Office of the Mayor of the City of Wilmington as the Director of Small Business Development. She received her B.S. in Economics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania and her MBA from Villanova University. She is also a credentialed Economic Development Finance Professional (Lending & Regulatory Specialist) from the National Development Council.
