Liquid Alchemy Recognized as Meadery of the Year!

Published On December 16, 2020

Liquid Alchemy Beverages is proud to be a handful of meaderies around the country to have won Gold and Silver medals in both national and international competitions. They feel blessed to have their “THAI-GRRR” win the coveted TEXAS MEAD CUP and in 2018 and were recognized as MEADERY OF THE YEAR by the “Mead Free or Die” competition of New England. They are proud to present to you some of the finest honey-wines that money can buy and with a diversity and uniqueness that only Liquid Alchemy can provide. Jeffrey and Terri have been working with the SBDC since 2014, and the Delaware Small Business Development Center couldn’t be prouder of all they have accomplished!

It was October 2012 when Terri and Jeffrey found a cute little cafe in Portland, Maine to get a home-cooked breakfast. They glanced over at the chalkboard of specials and noticed a very curious “Lavender Lemonade Mead” at the bottom. Little did they know that those three little words would change their lives.

”I was very fortunate that my degree from Rutgers University in Microbiology prepared me for an adventure in home brewing but had no idea that we soon would cover our home and work with bottles and experiments. What started off as a curiosity gradually turned into a real project and eventually Terri and I looked at each other and said “Let’s do this!” It’s been a crazy ride since 2012 but would not trade it for anything in this world. Now it’s time to let our little baby loose.”

“I had no idea that the journey we started in 2012 would take us from experimental bottles all over our kitchen and basement to a full demolition and resurrection of an old roofing building. After four long years of going from idea to creation (and may days of blood, sweat and tears) we are more than over-joyed to finally present Liquid Alchemy Beverages. I love to cook and experiment with new flavors which was my release from the sometimes dreary world of tax accounting! When we started experimenting and home brewing I was immediately hooked. My entrepreneurial spirit exploded and was thrilled when we decide to go pro. Its been a long, fascinating road and we learn something new every day. My favorite part is sharing what we’ve learned and sharing our meads and ciders.”
