Empowering Education Through AI: The A.I. Whoo School
In an era where artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping industries, A.I. Whoo School stands at the forefront of revolutionizing education. Founded by University of Delaware alum Matthew Saponaro, the mission is to make AI literacy accessible to all. A.I. Whoo School is breaking down barriers and equipping learners as young as 4-years-old with essential skills to thrive in an increasingly digital world.
A.I. Whoo School offers a diverse range of programming from homeschooler classes to interactive coding clubs. Their content is designed to empower Delaware youth with essential hands-on coding skills, fostering critical problem-solving abilities and logical thinking that are universally valuable in any field. Their unique approach integrates real-world applications, ensuring learners gain practical experience and confidence in utilizing AI tools. Additionally, A.I. Whoo actively collaborates with local schools, businesses, and community organizations to provide tailored workshops and learning opportunities.
Since their inception in 2019, A.I. Whoo has worked with SBDC Advisor, Lou DiNetta, to position them for success, including their NCC Innovation Grant for $350,000 in 2020, their EDGE Grant for $85k in 2023, and their participation in the iDea Lab 2023 Winter Cohort.
A.I. Whoo School’s dedication to education and community engagement has continued to earn them growing recognition across Delaware. Their partnership with United Way of Delaware’s Young Men United initiative during the summer of 2024 provided an incredible opportunity for Newark High School students to attend an AI camp, where they worked on projects such as creating websites with real-world potential. This collaboration is just one example of how A.I. Whoo School is shaping the future of local students. Furthermore, the implementation of their framework in the classroom earned founder Matt Saponaro the Excellence in Innovative Technology Award from the Christiana School District in January 2025.
Outside of education, A.I. Whoo continues to look towards more opportunities to improve the community through the power of AI. In fact, they were just awarded $2,000 by the Newark Partnership to work on A.I. Whoo’s QRvision, a park and trail loyalty program coming soon to Delaware State Parks!
The success of A.I. Whoo School is a testament to the power of innovation, education, and community support. The Delaware SBDC is proud to be part of the journey and we look forward to seeing how they continue to shape the future of AI learning.
