Right here in our state, Nourish Markets is taking big strides toward the future of in-person, around-the-clock shopping – with the recent opening of two locations, owners Sophia and Kevin Macauley are making history by opening the first stores in Delaware offering 100% autonomous checkout technology.

With the mission to make healthy living accessible to all, Nourish Markets is starting to set the standard – the team is beyond excited to leverage the most innovative technology in retail to make healthy food convenient and more affordable for everyone.

While the market locations grow in popularity here in Delaware, the goal is to expand into hospitals, universities, airports, office buildings, and apartments across the country. For businesses or buildings hosting a Nourish Market, there’s a perfect opportunity to offer fresh, healthy options to your on-site customers, staff, residents, and visitors. Access to the market is made easier with 24-hour operating schedules and no worry about staffing the store.

Planning is key to success in business, but a little funding can help too – after working to refine their business plan with assistance from Audrey Scott-Hynson, a Navigator Program Business Advisor, Nourish Markets is set for success with their recent award of $50,000 from the State of Delaware Division of Small Business’ EDGE Grant program. The EDGE grant will be used to purchase frictionless hardware equipment so the company can expand and open a second location in Wilmington.

Building, scaling, and financing a brand-new business is a lot of work – these entrepreneurs have acknowledged that they wouldn’t be able to do it alone and have thanked their team and partners for their support. Watching this team flourish has been exciting, and as they’d put it, working with Navigator Advisor Audrey Scott-Hynson and the Small Business Development Center is also a “10 out of 10” experience.
