Delaware SBDC Hosts Hack Attack Webinar Series

Bringing Cybersecurity to Life

Every October, Security Awareness Month highlights the importance of protecting sensitive information and strengthening defenses. This year (2025), Delaware SBDC and We Know Cyber are joining forces to bring that message to life with the Hack Attack Webinar Series.

A Real-Life Demonstration to Understand Cybercrime

The Hack Attack series will show what real cyber attacks look like, taking away the abstractness that makes them hard to conceptualize. Through a mix of lecture, educational content, and live demonstrations, the series reveals how attackers think, how they organize, and how businesses can defend themselves.

Three Parts, One Story

The series unfolds in three sessions, each one building on the last:

Part 1: How Hacking Organizations Work (October 8, 2025)

This session introduces the structure behind modern hacking groups. Far from being disorganized, many operate like businesses, with systems and processes designed to attack victims efficiently.

Part 2: What It Looks Like When Your Business Is Under Attack (October 15, 2025)

The second session shows what an attack looks like in progress. Participants will see examples of systems under attack and learn how to recognize the signs that a business is being targeted.

Part 3: Live Demonstration of a Cyber Attack (October 22, 2025)

The series concludes with live demonstrations. A fictitious hacking group will launch attacks against fictitious victims, giving viewers the chance to watch both the attacker and defender in action.

Why Cybersecurity Matters for Small Businesses

Small businesses are among the most frequent targets of cybercrime, which can severely impact finances, sensitive data, and even the business’s reputation. Many attackers assume that smaller organizations lack the resources or expertise to defend themselves, making them easier entry points.
By investing in cybersecurity awareness and best practices, small businesses can:

  • Protect sensitive customer and business data.
  • Avoid costly downtime and recovery efforts.
  • Strengthen trust with clients and partners.
  • Build resilience against an ever-changing threat landscape.

No-Cost Training

Led by Guy and Matt Bilyou of We Know Cyber, the Hack Attack webinars are free and open to all small businesses through Delaware SBDC’s Data Assured programming. This is an opportunity to learn in a safe, engaging environment – at no cost!

By attending Hack Attack, participants will not only gain knowledge, but also develop a stronger understanding of what cybersecurity means in practice. The goal is not to intimidate, but to educate and empower.
