Sweets & Treats Grand Opening

Monique Walker, the new owner of Sweets & Treats at 147 S. Governors Avenue downtown Dover, recently held a grand opening in her new bakery.

Monique has been in business for two years at the Christiana Mall. She participated in the Downtown Dover Partnership’s Unlock the Block program last summer and came out the top winner.

She received financial and other assistance from the DDP, as well as the Division of Small Business and the Delaware Small Business Development Center.

She specializes in cupcakes, brownies, specialty cakes and frozen beverages such as slushies, gourmet milkshakes and floats.

Sweets & Treats is a family owned establishment. Sweets & Treats was established in 2012, Inspired by family baking competitions, owner Monique Walker initially started an in-home baking company that provided friends and family with cupcakes and sweets. Services expanded to creating custom cakes for birthday parties, weddings and large events due to referrals and word of mouth.

Sweets & Treats is located in Downtown Dover. They offer a 10% discount to all DSU and Wesley students, Kent General Hospital, Military, Police, Fire and Ambulance.  Photo ID must be presented at the time of checkout.

Sweets & Treats offers cupcakes, brownies, cake pops, gourmet milkshakes, banana pudding, strawberry crunch pudding, custom cakes, root beer floats, fruit salad, specialty breads, coffee, candy and catered custom desserts. We also offer services such as wedding and event planning, full and partial event set up, dessert and candy tables, custom T-shirts, balloons, party favors, and invitations.
