J. Michael Bowman

SBDC State Director

Since July 2013, Mike Bowman has served as the State Director of the Delaware Small Business Development Center (SBDC) and the Associate Director of the Office of Economic Innovation & partnerships at University of Delaware. Serving on the board of America’s Small Business Development Centers, Mike brings a dynamic background and innovative spirit to projects and collaborations that drive the Delaware SBDC to new heights.  

 Also serving as President/CEO of Delaware Technology Park, Inc. (DTP), he fosters collaboration between the State of Delaware, the University of Delaware, and private companies to launch and support tech firms in life sciences, renewable energy, advanced materials, and FinTech. His extensive experience includes a prior role as Vice President and General Manager of DuPont’s Advanced Material Systems, a $1 billion global business.  

 Mike holds a BS in Chemical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati and has completed executive certificate programs from the American Management Association, Columbia University, and the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He is actively involved in education, community, and technology organizations, serving on the board of the Delaware BioScience Association, and as former Chairman of the University of Delaware’s College of Engineering Advisory Council. In 2018, Mike was inducted into the Delaware Business Leaders Hall of Fame to honor his impact on workforce and economic development in Delaware.
