On May 8, State Director Mike Bowman was awarded the Entrepreneurial Advocate of the Year Award by the New Castle County Chamber for his tireless efforts to promote early stage companies. A leader in Entrepreneurship for his work as President of the Delaware Technology Park, recently he was appointed State Director of the Delaware SBDC and Associate Director of UD’s office of Economic Innovation and Partnerships. Mike describes his role as furthering the mission of seamlessly connecting innovators with the tools and resources they need to create and grow sustainable businesses. “We work with businesses in all parts of the state and in all industry sectors from restaurants in downtown Wilmington or Rehoboth Beach to tech companies here in the Park.”

Prior to 1998, Mike was a VP/GM for DuPont Advanced Materials, a global $1 Billion/yr. unit, before moving into the world of entrepreneurs to help build new technology companies. Since then over 80 companies and 16,000 new jobs have been created in the tech sector. Using that experience and network, Mike is focused on how the SDTDC can enable all sectors of DE small businesses become successful through its expert business advisors.
